LASER TATTOO REMOVAL

The ND:YAG Q-switch laser is a safe and effective way to get rid of tattoos, permanent makeup, and skin spots like age spots, sunspots, and birthmarks. Tattoo ink gets stuck in the deeper layers of your skin because of collagen fibers. The Q-switched laser uses short bursts of strong laser light that break down the ink into tiny particles your body can remove. This laser targets the ink, so your skin doesn’t get harmed in the process.

How Many Sessions Are Needed for Tattoo Removal?

The number of sessions required can vary from person to person, depending on factors like the tattoo’s color, age, and location. You might notice some reduction after the first session, but typically it takes 6 to 8 sessions, with at least 8 weeks between each. In some cases, more sessions might be necessary for complete removal.

Is Tattoo Removal Painful?

The level of pain you feel depends on your tattoo type, the amount of treatment needed, and your pain tolerance. Some find it slightly uncomfortable, while others compare it to the sensation of an elastic band snapping against the skin. We can provide advice on pain relief during your consultation.

What Colour Tattoos Can We Remove?

In general, the laser can work on all types of tattoos. However, different colours and ink depths can affect the response. Black, red, dark orange, and dark blue tattoos usually respond better. Pastel, neon, and white colours are more challenging to remove and may require additional sessions.

Does It Cause Scarring?

While there’s always a risk of scarring with laser treatments, ND:YAG laser tattoo removal is associated with minimal scarring. Older laser methods used to have a higher scarring risk. The ND:YAG laser doesn’t significantly heat the surrounding skin, reducing the chance of scarring.
